Join us at TEAM YCS Quito, Ecuador for a weekend full of excitement, spend the weekend hanging out with other Yu-Gi-Oh! fans and form a team to compete for a chance to be crowned TEAM YCS Champions!

COVID-19 Restrictions for the TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series – Quito, Ecuador 2022 KDE-US has adopted a mandatory vaccination policy to protect the safety of its attendees. At the venue, each attendee 5 years and older will be required to show proof of full vaccination before entry (this requirement may change depending on authorization of vaccines for the under 5 age group. We will update this FAQ as the situation evolves.). All attendees must be fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved by the government of Ecuador and/or the United Nations to be able to enter the country. (Click Here for rules on entering Ecuador). Acceptable proof of COVID-19 vaccination includes an Ecuadorian certificate of vaccination, a certificate of vaccination issued by a country or territory recognized by the United Nations, a WHO vaccination card, or a photo of a card (printed or on an electronic device). The card must state the name of the vaccinated person, the type of vaccine received, and the date of the last dose. All players participating in tournaments and any spectators 18 and older must also show a photo ID that matches the identifying information on the vaccination card. Children under the age of 5 will not be required to show proof of vaccination, but instead must show documentation of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours of the event. The test can be a PCR test or an antigen test. Home tests will not be accepted. The documentation must show the test result, the type of test, the entity issuing the test, and the date of test. Attendees who are unable to receive a COVID-19 vaccine due to a medical condition must instead show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours of the event. In addition to the requirements listed above for showing proof of a negative test, these attendees must provide documentation from a healthcare provider verifying that the attendee has a medical exemption from vaccination. This verification must state the attendee’s name, the fact that the attendee is medically exempt, and must be signed by a healthcare provider. KDE-US will be checking proof of vaccination, proof of negative test results, and medical exemption documentation at the entrance of the event. KDE-US reserves the right to refuse entry to attendees who do not comply with this policy. Face Masks must be worn at all times during the event. There will not be a dedicated food service area for eating and drinking. Food and beverages may not be consumed in any area of the event space.

Taxi and Ride Sharing services from Aeropuerto Internacional Mariscal Sucre (UIO) to Centro de Eventos Bicentenario will cost approximately $23 – $30 USD. Taxi fares are prepaid at the front desk near the International Terminal exit. The airport offers a regularly scheduled shuttle service to the Bicentenario Event Center for the cost of $8 USD. REGISTRATION SCHEDULE (MAIN EVENT) Q: When is the TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series – Quito, Ecuador? A: Pre-Registration: October 14th, 2022 Main Event: October 15th – 16th, 2022
Q: When can my team register for the TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series – Quito, Ecuador? A: All teams will have two opportunities to register for the Main Event. Teams can register for the Main Event during Pre-Registration on Friday, October 14th from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM or during Registration on Saturday, October 15th from 8:00 AM – 9:45 AM. If your team chooses to pre-register for the event on Friday, you will not need to show up and register on Saturday morning. Simply show up Saturday morning no later than 9:30 AM if you still need to turn in your Deck List, or by 9:45 AM if you have already handed in your Deck List, and your team will already be on the list for the 1st Round. The Player Meeting will occur while teams are seated for the 1st Round of play before play begins. During Pre-Registration, players whose team has pre-registered for the Main Event AND submitted their Deck List will receive a random, new Pre-Registration Coin. This Coin will only be made available during Pre-Registration at our YCS events; all members of the team MUST register the Friday prior to the TEAM YCS and submit a completed Deck List during Pre-Registration in order for the team to qualify for this prize. We urge you to pre-register for the event on Friday due to seating capacity, and also have your vaccination status verified. You will be given a wristband once your status has been verified. Please keep this wristband on at all times during the weekend, so that you do not need to be checked each time you enter the venue. Pre-registering on Friday will ensure that your team’s re-entry on Saturday morning will go more smoothly, allowing the event to start on time. Players must use an uncut KDE-US Registration Form sheet to register for this event (3 Registration Forms per sheet). The top player is automatically Player A, the middle is Player B, and the bottom is Player C.
Duelist A is considered to be the Team Captain and is the primary point of contact for administrative purposes. Each team must register a Team Name. The Team Name must be written on the top of the Registration Form and Deck List for each the three team members. Team Names may not be offensive or disrespectful in any manner. Event Staff reserve the right to request a new team name if they feel the name may be inappropriate.

Registration for ongoing Public Events begins at the event’s start time. Registration for all non-ongoing Public Events begins approximately one hour before the event is scheduled to begin.

Q: What are the point values for the Public Events? A:
No Public Event Points are awarded to the following events:
Duelists must be present for the start of the first round of each event for which they register, in order to receive the entry points. You cannot register in more than one event at a time. If you register for an event while you are still enrolled in a previous event, you will forfeit all Public Event points for all events in which you are simultaneously registered.
Q: What is a Swiss Round Tournament? A: Players are paired off based on each player’s win/loss record. Players are not eliminated when they lose a match during Swiss tournaments – instead, they will continue to be paired against players with similar records for all remaining rounds of the event.
Q: What is a Single-Elimination Tournament? A: Half of the tournament is eliminated after each round – the losing player is out of the tournament, while the winner goes on to the next round. This continues until only one player remains, which is then declared the winner.
Q: What is the Advanced Constructed Format Dragon Duel? A: Dragon Duel tournaments are Advanced Format, Constructed events exclusive to Duelists born in 2009 or later. Dragon Duels give a chance to earn an invite to the next Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier. It is run using Swiss Rounds without a Top Cut playoff. Duelists that are eligible to play in the Dragon Duel tournament may enter the event for free. Participants are required to provide proof of age in order to participate in a Dragon Duel (Copy of Birth Certificate, Passport, etc). Duelists must be born in 2009 or later. A minimum of four (4) Duelists is required to run a Dragon Duel tournament. A Deck List is required for participation into a Dragon Duel. Dragon Duel tournaments are considered to be Tier 2 events. All Duelists who earn an invite to the next Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier or their guardian must fill out a copy the World Championship Qualifier Invite Form prior to receiving their prizes. A valid e-mail address must be provided for either the Duelist or the guardian. The winner of the Saturday Dragon Duel will not be able to participate in the Sunday Dragon Duel, but the winner from the Saturday Dragon Duel and the winner from the Sunday Dragon Duel will compete for the Dragon Duel Champion’s title on Sunday at 4:30 PM.
Q: What are the prizes for the Advanced Constructed Format Dragon Duel? A: Top 4 Duelists in a Dragon Duel tournament will receive a 2023 Regional Game Mat, a Dragon Duel Medal, and a Regional Card Case. In addition to the prizes listed above, Invites awarded in the Dragon Duel for the next Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier are based off of attendance, with the top ranking Duelists after the final round of Swiss earning an invite to the next Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier.
Duelists are required to complete and submit a World Championship Qualifier Invite form on site. Prizes are not awarded until after the World Championship Qualifier Invite forms have been completed and properly submitted. Q: What is the YCS Dragon Duel Championship? A: The YCS Dragon Duel Championship is a way to honor our Dragon Duelists who attend each YCS event. The Dragon Duelist who places 1st on Saturday, will not be able to compete in the Dragon Duel on Sunday. They do instead get one (1) free entry into any non-Dragon Duel Public Event on Sunday. At 4:30 PM on Sunday we will take the 1st place winners of the Dragon Duels on Saturday and Sunday and have them play a best 2-out-of-3 match using the Advanced Constructed Format. The winner will receive the title of YCS Dragon Duel Champion and receive a YCS Dragon Duel Championship Trophy, and a Super Rare set of the Darklords YCS Prize Cards. If the Championship Playoff does not occur, the winner of either the Saturday or the Sunday Dragon Duel will become the YCS Dragon Duel Champion and will take home the trophy, but no prize cards will be awarded.
Q: What is the Format for the Casual Sealed Deck Dragon Duel? A: Each Duelist would receive one Speed Duel Demo Deck. They would then play a normal best 2 out of 3 game matches following Speed Duel Rules.

Q: Who is eligible for the Yu-Gi-Oh! OTS Tournament Series? A: All Team members must be associated as customers at the same OTS and participate in their local tournaments on a regular basis. Team members must be registered as authorized players by their OTS online prior to the event weekend. Please contact your local OTS if interested in being one of their authorized players.

The Duelist listed as Player A will be team captain for administrative purposes. Each team must register a Team Name. The Team Name must be written on the top of the Registration Form. Example of Play Duelists on the same team sit beside each other, with Duelist A seated to the right of Duelist B. Team 1 consists of Duelists 1A & 1B and Team 2 consists of Duelists 2A & 2B. The Turn order starts with Duelist A on the Team that chose to go first and then alternates between teams. See example below with Team 1 going first.
Attacking The active Duelist can only attack with Attack Position monsters that they control. Duelists may not attack with their teammate’s monsters. If there is a monster on the opponent’s side of the field (in either Duelist’s Main/Extra Monster Card Zones) then it must be destroyed before attacking the opponent’s life points directly. The first 3 Duelists of the Duel (see above, Duelists 1A, 2A and 1B) cannot conduct their Battle Phase and cannot attack on their first turns. All it takes to enter is donating non-perishable food (sealed and valued at least 5 USD or its equivalent in local currency). For your donation you’ll receive two (2) Booster Packs and registration in the event. Duelists will compete in 4 Swiss Rounds using Advanced Constructed Format. Prizes are Booster Packs and the amount you get is based on your win/loss record. Food Donations will be picked up by a local, non-profit NGO.

Test your Deck builds in a Duel using the latest DUEL LINKS Forbidden and Limited restrictions to compete for DUEL LINKS Prize Patches and the 1st place Pin! (while supplies last)!
Between each Duel, you may use your Side Deck to alter your Deck for the next Duel.
In case of a disconnect, win/loss will be determined by the result given in-game. If the app crashes, or both Duelists disconnect simultaneously and a win is not decided, the Duelists will restart that Duel using the same Decks. Side Decking will not be allowed for that specific Duel. Instructions on how the competitors can connect to the in-game Tournament Room will be provided once you are seated for the events. Duelists will need to have the latest DUEL LINKS app installed on their device and reached Stage 4 or higher to participate in Tournaments. The current version at the time of posting is v. 6.9.0.

Q: What is the Public Events playoff? A: The Public Events playoff gives 8 hopeful Duelists a chance to win their very own copy of the coveted YCS Prize Card! There are two different playoffs, each of which awards the YCS Prize Card to the winner. Playoff 1: The four Duelists who have accumulated the highest number of Public Event points will play two rounds of Single-Elimination to determine a winner, who will receive a Super Rare copy of the YCS Prize Card. In case of a points total tie, the selection will be made by random drawing from the tied competitors. Playoff 2: Four names will be drawn at random from all Public Events entrants over the course of the weekend. These four competitors will then play two rounds of Single-Elimination to determine a winner, who will receive a Super Rare copy of the YCS Prize Card.
Q: How long will each Match last? A: Each Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Match will be a best 2-out-of-3 Duel with a 45-minute time limit. Each Speed Duel Match will be a best 2-out-of-3 Duel with a 45-minute time limit. Each DUEL LINKS Match will be a best 2-out-of-3 Duel with a 45-minute time limit. Q. What is the Prize Wall? A: The Prize Wall is an extension of Public Events! In addition to earning prizes for participating in these tournaments, Duelists will also receive prize tickets. TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series – Quito, Ecuador Information Q: What happens at a TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series event? A: This is an exciting 2-day team event that takes place from Saturday to Sunday. Duelists from all over will attend this event to compete for exclusive prizes, and spend the weekend Dueling, trading, and hanging out with hundreds of other Yu-Gi-Oh! fans. In addition to the main TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series tournament, there are numerous Public Events, such as MASTER DUEL Tournaments, Rivalry of Warlords, Win-A-Mat, Yu-Gi-Oh! Q: What is the attendance capacity for the TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series – Quito, Ecuador? A: Due to safety, health, and fire regulations, we have seating for up to 600 Duelists (200 teams) for this TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series. We urge you to pre-register on Friday to have a better chance of being able to play in the Main Event. If attendance exceeds the maximum capacity, there will be numerous Public Events that you will still be able to participate in throughout the weekend.
Q: When does my team have to turn in our Deck Lists for the TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series – Quito, Ecuador? A: At the TEAM YCS Quito, Ecuador, we will be collecting your Deck List at registration. This means that all team members must have a completed Deck List ready to hand in when you register for the YCS. There will be one exception to this: if a team Pre-Registers on Friday, October 14th, you can turn in your Deck List when you Pre-Register or no later than 9:30 AM Saturday October 15th or the team will be awarded at least a first round Game Loss and will not be allowed to participate until a legal Deck List has been properly submitted. Q: What will I need to bring to a TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series tournament? A: You should bring a tournament-legal Deck as described above, along with any tournament supplies you will need; such as paper and pen to track Life Points, dice or counters if you are using cards which require them, extra sleeves to replace any that become damaged, and so forth. If you have a CARD GAME ID number, you should bring your number. You should bring a form of personal identification with a picture. You’ll also need the entry fee for the tournament, as well as money for your incidentals (food, drinks, Public Events, etc.).
Q: If I’ve never been to a TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series tournament, what should I expect? A: TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series are among the biggest of all Yu-Gi-Oh! tournaments and attract Duelists of all ages and skill levels. Many Duelists travel great distances to attend the TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series, so you can expect to meet hundreds of fellow Yu-Gi-Oh! fans from all over. There are a lot of things you should do to make sure you are prepared before heading to the tournament. When you get to the event, all team members will need to register at the same time in order to play. Your team can register on Friday from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM, or you can register on the morning of the event. If all members of your team live in the area or arrive early enough on Friday, you should definitely register then, especially with the new COVID protocols that will require the three of you to show proof of vaccination. Once verified, you will be given a wristband, that will allow you to enter the tournament area more smoothly during the rest of the weekend. It will save you a lot of time the following morning. If you need to register on the day of the event, make sure all team members get there early! Registration will open at 8:00 AM, and there will already be a line of people waiting. The entire team will need to be in line by 9:45 AM, or you will not be able to enter the tournament when it begins. We will have to start without your team, to make sure the event begins on time – you’ll still be able to play, but you will not be able to enter the tournament until the second round begins and your team will start with a Round One Match loss. To register, every team must use an uncut KDE-US Team Registration Form sheet to register for this event (3 Registration Forms per sheet). Make sure your Team Registration form is filled out completely before you reach the registration station. Each team member will also need a CARD GAME ID card – this is the ID number used to track each player in the tournament. If a team member does not already have one, he or she will be able to get one at the tournament. Look for the CARD GAME ID station and get a card before you try to register. If you have a CARD GAME ID and have lost or forgotten it, you can ask the CARD GAME ID station to look it up for you. If you’ve played in a previous event, they may be able to retrieve your number. The CARD GAME ID station is kept separately from the Registration stations, so if you do not have a CARD GAME ID number or need it looked up, be sure to go to the CARD GAME ID station before getting in line to register. Once the team has completed Registration form and all Team members have CARD GAME ID numbers, you can register for the tournament as a team. Each team member will also need to fill out a Deck List. Q: I will be bringing my children to the TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series – Quito, Ecuador. Is there anything I should know? A: If your child was born in 2009 or later, there is a special tournament each day just for this age group, called a Dragon Duel. You can find more information about Dragon Duels in the Public Events section of this FAQ. We will have a Parents’ Area available, where parents can relax while their children are occupied in the tournament. This area is open only to parents and their children. You are not required to stay on site, but we strongly recommend that you do, especially if your children are young or this is their first event. Please know that the tournament staff cannot be responsible for looking after your children, or their possessions. Always make sure your child has a way to contact you, and is provided with any necessities such as food, drink, or extra money if you do not wish to remain in the tournament area. When your child is preparing for the event, encourage him or her to leave any bulky or expensive possessions at home. Electronics and large collections of cards are hard to keep track of during a big tournament – your child will have a much easier day without having to worry about these kinds of items. Trading cards is a big attraction at large tournaments, but if you are concerned about your child trading away valuable cards, talk to him or her before the event and set some guidelines. You can always have your child check with you before making a trade.
Q: Will the TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series have Yu-Gi-Oh! Very Important Players (VIPs) and how do teams qualify to be one? A: Yes! We will have VIPs at the TEAM YCS Lima, Peru. To qualify as a Yu-Gi-Oh! VIP, Duelists are encouraged to form their teams and attend one of several VIP Qualifier tournaments hosted by select OTS before the TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series. You can find information on those qualifiers here: https://www.yugioh-card.com/en/events/vip-qualifier/. The same three (3) team members who play and qualify at a VIP Qualifier must play as a team at the TEAM YCS. There can be no swapping of team members at the TEAM YCS. A team who wins a TEAM YCS VIP Qualifier or a team that includes at least 1 UDS Invitational Champion who brings their Championship Belt to the YCS earns the following benefits as a VIP:
*In order to be eligible for any pre-registration items, VIP teams must pre-register. If an item requires a Deck List to be submitted at the time of registration in order for it to be awarded, the VIP team must submit a valid Deck List while registering to be eligible. Please note that all VIP Teams must still register on time and be present on site during the Player Meeting. If you need to register on the day of the event, get there early! Registration will open at 8:00 AM. All team members need to be in the VIP line by 9:45 AM, or your team will not be able to enter the tournament when round 3 begins. We will have to start Round 3 without you for tardiness – you’ll still be able to play, but you will not be able to enter the tournament until the fourth round begins and you will start with a Round 3 Match loss for not registering on time.
Q: How does VIP Status work at the TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series? A: A team can obtain VIP Status for this event either by winning a TEAM YCS VIP Qualifier or by having at least one (1) UDS Champion in the team. A VIP Team will enjoy some of the benefits of having VIP Status (specifically, the 2 round BYE and static seating). If a team has VIP status because one of its members is a UDS Invitational Champion, only the VIP player will receive FREE entry into the event. All non-VIP team members will still have to pay the cost of registration as normal. There will be a designated VIP Area and the team will receive a 2 round BYE.
Q: Will the TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series – Quito, Ecuador have the Bounty Feature? A: Yes! We will be including the Bounty Feature for the TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series. At the start of the tournament, a certain number of Teams will be selected and tagged with KONAMI lanyards. Each lanyard will bear a number, from 1 to 10. Each of these Bounty Teams will begin the tournament with a stack of booster packs (6 packs per round) allotted to all team members. So, for a 10-round tournament, the total Bounty on each Team would be 60 booster packs. At the start of each round, 6 packs will be removed from each Bounty Team’s total and placed in their Bounty Pile. If the Bounty Team wins, each team member receives 1 of the packs from the Bounty Pile, leaving the rest in the pile. If the Bounty Team loses, the opponents claim all of the packs in the Bounty Pile. At the end of each round, both the Bounty Team and the opponent team must come up to the main stage so the winners can collect the packs. The longer a Bounty Team goes undefeated, the more packs your team can win if you beat them. If the Bounty Team goes undefeated, they will keep all the packs in their Bounty. Bounty Teams are not eliminated by a loss. Once a team has been tagged, they become a Bounty Team for as long as they participate in the event. The lanyard is theirs to keep. Bounty Teams are chosen for a variety of reasons – including past performances at events of at least one of their members, running an innovative or exciting Deck, or maybe for wearing a really eye-catching hat. Only teams who have pre-registered for the tournament will be selected as a Bounty Duelist. If your team is chosen, you don’t have to participate if you would rather not join in.
Q: Will there be meal breaks during the tournament? A: There will be a 30-minute meal break on Day 1 to allow Duelists to eat, as food and drink are not allowed inside the tournament hall. Announcements will be made the Round prior to the start of the break and a 30-minute time clock will be set. Teams that do not arrive for the next Round on time will incur tardiness penalties.
Q: What if someone who came with me does not know how to play? A: If someone who is attending the TEAM YCS that does not know how to play Yu-Gi-Oh!, do not worry. We will have capable volunteers on site who will be more than happy to teach them how to play.
Q: What happens if I am not done with my Match after 45 minutes? A: Sometimes a Match will not be finished when the time ends for a round. If this happens, it is both Duelists’ responsibility to note whose turn it is when time is called. Duelists who require assistance with the End of Match procedures, should raise their hand and call for a Judge. The Judge should be notified that the Match is ongoing and whose turn it is. The judge may or may not stay to supervise the End of Match procedure but should ensure that both Duelists understand the following procedures. End of Match procedures should follow these three (3) rules: Rule #1: If time is called while Duelists are in the middle of a Game, the current Game must have a decision (Win, Loss, or Draw) Rule #2: Once the current Game has concluded with a decision, determine the winner of the Match by determining the number of Game Wins (or Game Losses) each Duelist has for the current Match. The Duelist with the most Game Wins will win the Match. Swiss Rounds: If both Duelists have the same number of Game Wins, or if time was called in between games of a Match when both Duelists had the same number of Game Wins, then the Match is a Draw. Single-Elimination Rounds: If both Duelists have the same number of Game Wins, or if time is called in between Games of a Match while both Duelists have the same number of Game Wins, they will begin a new Duel with specific guidelines.
Rule #3: If a win condition occurs during End of Match Procedures, that Duelist wins the current Game. Keeping these three (3) rules in mind, please follow these instructions when proceeding to End of Match procedures:
Match Draws cannot occur during Single-Elimination Rounds.

In addition to checking the tournament legality of a product, please check the current Advanced Format Forbidden/Limited list. Q: Can I buy and sell from other people at the event? A: Duelists are not allowed to buy or sell from one another at a TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series event. If you do so, you risk incurring penalties, including being disqualified and removed from the event. Buying and selling includes all items, not just cards or gaming supplies. Trading is restricted to cards – attendees may not bring other merchandise or items to the venue for trading. Attendees may not solicit business, hand out flyers, etc. while at the venue. The Tournament Organizer reserves the right to limit the number of cards that can be brought into the venue for trading.
Q: I want to vend at the TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series – Quito, Ecuador, who should I contact? A: Vending space is available free of charge at the TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series, but is only available to Official Tournament Stores in good standing. Vendors must meet certain requirements and agree to abide by set guidelines. Interested vendors should email opsupport.lat@devir.com with the header “Request to Vend at [TEAM YCS Quito 2022].” Vendors will be required to complete and submit an application for each event at which they wish to vend. Keep in mind that KDE-US, and Devir Americas handle the applications for vending at TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series events, and not the Event Manager. Cash transactions with anyone other than an approved vendor at an approved location are prohibited at TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series events. Attendees who conduct cash transactions, such as selling of cards or product, to anyone other than an approved vendor at the TEAM Yu-Gi-Oh! Q: What if I lost an item at the tournament? Duelists are responsible for looking after their own belongings at the event. KDE-US, Tournament Organizers, Staff, and Judges bear no responsibility for, and cannot be held liable for, any loss, theft or damage to the person or personal property of any attendee. The Tournament Organizer is required to keep lost and found items for at least 60 days after the conclusion of the Event. Duelists who lost items should seek the Lost & Found on-site. If the item is not found on-site, Duelists are encouraged to contact the Tournament Organizer within the 60-day period on the chance the lost item has been turned in.
