2022 has arrived with a full year of Duels – and if Duels are your thing, there’s no better place to be than in an Official Tournament Store (OTS)! For Remote Duel players and residents of Aracaju, Sergipe, in Brazil, the most exciting Duels occur in Multiverso Game Café, our newest Featured Official Tournament Store!
The plan to create Multiverso Game Café was prepared with “great care and caution,” according to Thaís Soares Souza, the storeowner. The Duelists from Aracaju were not used to visiting stores to Duel, but Multiverso Game Café was able to gradually win the Duelists’ trust by placing their emphasis on focusing on making the Duelists’ experience even more pleasant. All their hard work has paid off, and today Multiverso Game Café has become a favorite among Duelists in the region who are always on the lookout for new Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG products and, of course, for special events that only an OTS can hold.
Multiverso Game Café has a cozy atmosphere, from the entrance to the interior, where the tables are organized in a way that will provide a large and comfortable space for all Duelists. The dedication to offering a comfortable place for everyone went beyond the ordinary, as Thaís tried to create the area thinking about her entire Yu-Gi-Oh! community and working to meet the needs of all Duelists. For this reason, the OTS installed accessibility ramps, restrooms with grab bars and wheelchair-accessible doors – there are no stairs or door stops that make it difficult to get around.
Despite the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Thaís did not give up and continued to look for new ways to keep her community engaged. With the temporary closure of almost all businesses in Brazil for much of 2021, new projects emerged, and that’s how Multiverso Game Café held the first Remote Duel Extravaganza in Brazil! Persistence and their focus on embracing all the opportunities provided through Remote Duels in Yu-Gi-Oh! allowed the OTS to continue interacting with its community, attracting not only local Duelists but also Duelists from other regions who, due to the pandemic, could not attend in-store events.

Now, with the return of in-store Duels, Multiverso Game Café remains concerned with maintaining the safety and protection of their community. This is why the store offers hand sanitizer for Duelists to use before and during events. Multiverso Game Café requires the mandatory use of face masks, follows local guidelines to limit the participation in certain events, requires that payments are made directly through the store’s website in order to limit the number of Duelists assembling in one place and keep the community safe while still offering the excitement of Dueling in-store.
Multiverso Game Café is always looking for new Duelists, and the “Aulão de Yu-Gi-Oh!” (Yu-Gi-Oh! lessons) project is their own initiative to help new Duelists better understand Yu-Gi-Oh!. Their judge team prepares a summary with all the basic rules of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG which answers the most common questions Duelists may have. While this program is focused on new Duelists, it also helps returning Duelists, and all fans who are interested in learning more about the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG.
The “Adote um Kuriboh” (Adopt a Kuriboh) event is also one of the store’s initiatives, where an experienced Duelist becomes responsible for helping a beginner Duelist and teaches them how to Duel – and one of the most fun parts of this initiative is that both Duelists receive rewards when the beginner does well in a match!
Thaís explains that her audience is very energetic and active; therefore, she and her team encourage and motivate these Duelists to sign up to become Yu-Gi-Oh! Judges and participate in big tournaments to make the most of their potential. “Note that there are always one or more Duelists from our region in the Top 8 of all major events,” she mentions.
Multiverso Game Café started as a small store, but with an immense determination and the willingness to do something different, this OTS has remained persistent in the most complicated moments and has managed to bring Duelists closer and remains committed to offering everything that is best for their community. That’s one of the main reasons we’re excited to announce Multiverso Game Café as our latest Featured OTS!
